Full Moon in Sagittarius
RITUAL
As we enter Gemini Season, a Full Moon in Sagittarius full of promises is upon us.
What this means: Gemini Season brings a breath of lightness, a very airy vibe that promotes social connections and communication, but it also heightens mental activity and a whirlwind of incessant thoughts. It’s a very volatile energy that tends to go off in all directions.
As for the Full Moon in Sagittarius, it invites you to expand, perhaps awakening desires for travel and exploration of all kinds.
You might also be questioning your destiny, contemplating the potential meaning your life might take in the coming months; which wouldn’t be surprising with this conjunction bringing together two literally opposite signs.
What I offer you today is a two-step ritual that you can perform under the Full Moon to amplify its power, but perhaps not just before going to bed if you are a light sleeper (we’re going to activate quite a lot of energy in you).
This time, you need nothing. But if you want to add a touch of sacredness to the moment, you can:
Light white and purple candles
Set up a small altar with the crystals that call to you at the moment, dried herbs, and seasonal fruits
Place a few drops of lavender essential oil in the crook of your wrists
Prepare a meditation cushion in front of your altar
Prepare a magical playlist
First, we are going to dance. If you wish to skip this step, you can, but I like it.
Under the Full Moon (if possible, but any other place and time of day also works), play your magical playlist, or simply listen to the sound of your breath, of your environment. Let them carry you and start to move to their rhythm. It can be slow and subtle movements, swaying your hips and letting gentle waves flow through the rest of your body, or it can be a wild dance to the rhythm of a song you love.
If you feel like singing too, go for it!
The goal here is to quiet the mind and connect with your physical body—to ground yourself and let go.
Release everything that is not important, release your limiting beliefs and the need to control everything. Not everything depends on you, and that’s okay.
Let go of your fears and anxieties. Focus on your sensations, they bring you back to the here and now.
Dance as long as you want and can.
Then, in silence, settle in a meditative position. You can choose whether to sit or lie down.
We are going to keep the energy flowing with a pranayama exercise inspired by Wim Hof’s practices (the iceman). This breathing exercise is divided into three steps:
Circular breathing through the mouth for 1min30 (which means you do not pause between the inhale and the exhale, which should be roughly equal) with a relaxed belly.
Deep inhale to the maximum of your capacity, then exhale to two-thirds (keeping a reserve of about 1/3 of air), and empty retention for 1min (but if you need to breathe before, do it).
Then a deep inhale (still through the mouth) and full retention for a few seconds, before exhaling calmly.
Repeat the process once more, increasing the empty retention to 1min15. Then, one last time trying to hold for 1min30 or more.
This exercise can be challenging, so it is important to listen to yourself and respect your limits.
My advice is to move as little as possible (which is why, if you are not perfectly comfortable in a seated position, it may be better to lie down), and to visualise that you are depositing everything that comes to mind into your pelvis, then into the ground. Then, with the inhale and final retention, you finally fill yourself with new energy and inspiration.
The point of this practise is to let go, to get used to the sensation of emptiness in order to then welcome inspiration and the gifts of life.
To amplify this state of receptivity, you can form the Chin Mudra by joining your thumbs and index fingers and extending the other fingers.
Making room to welcome the new and inspiration is a healthy and essential practice for your evolution and expansion.
It can take different forms, such as sorting through your belongings and getting rid of old objects carrying stagnant energies that no longer serve you, or, in my case, shaving your head and burning your hair to integrate the learnings of the past, while giving back to the Universe a story that now vibrates at a different frequency than yours.
Follow your heart and intuition to find what works for you. And, in the meantime, this little ritual can help you take the first step.
❂ Thank you, and happy Full Moon ❂
